【摘要】:Thesetestproceduresensureanddocumentthatthethermocoupleassemblywasnotdamagedpriortoorduringtheinstallationprocessandthattheextensionwiresareproperlyconnected.Thetestproceduresshouldbeusedwhenthermocoupleassembliesarefirstinstalledintheirworkingenvironment.Intheeventofsubsequentthermocouplefailure,theseprocedureswillprovidebenchmarkdatatoverifyfailureandtohelpevaluatethecauseoffailure.Theusefulnessandpurposeoftheapplicabletestswillbefoundwithineachcategory.Thesetestsarenotmeanttoensurethatthethermocoupleassemblywillindicatetemperaturesaccurately.Suchassurancederivesfromproperthermocoupleandinstrumentationselectionandproperplacementinthelocationwherethetemperatureistobemeasured.Forfurtherinformation,thereaderisdirectedtoMNL12,ManualontheUseoftheThermocouplesinTemperatureMeasurement2whichisanexcellentreferencedocumentonmetalsheathedthermocouples.1.1Thisguidecoversmethodsforuserstotestmetalsheathedthermocoupleassemblies,includingtheextensionwires,justpriorto,andafterinstallationorsomeperiodofservice.1.2Thetestsareintendedtoensurethatthethermocoupleassemblieshavenotbeendamagedduringstorageorinstallation,toensurethattheextensionwireshavebeenattachedtoconnectorsandterminalswiththecorrectpolarity,andtoprovidebenchmarkdataforlaterreferencewhentestingtoassesspossibledamageofthethermocoupleassemblyafteroperation.Someofthesetestsmaynotbeappropriateforthermocouplesthathavebeenexposedtotemperatureshigherthantherecommendedlimitsfortheparticulartype.1.3Thetestsdescribedhereinincludemethodstomeasurethefollowingvariablesofinstalledsheathedthermocoupleassembliesandtoprovidebenchmarkdatafordeterminingifthethermocoupleassemblyissubsequentlydamagedinoperation:1.3.1LoopResistanceThermoelements,Combinedextensionwiresandthethermoelements,1.3.2InsulationResistanceInsulation,thermocoupleassembly,Insulation,thermocoupleassemblyandextensionwires.1.3.3SeebeckVoltage:1.3.3.1Thermoelements,1.3.3.2Combinedextensionwiresandthermocoupleassembly.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
