【摘要】:Thistestmethodisintendedtoscreenthemostobviouspoormaterialsfromfurtherconsideration.Sincethecombustiongasesmorecloselyresembletheenvironmentgeneratedinrocketmotors,thistestmethodismoreapplicabletoscreeningmaterialsfornozzlesandmotorlinersthanforaerodynamicheating.Theenvironmentforanyspecifichigh-temperaturethermalprotectionproblemispeculiartothatparticularapplication.Theconditionsgeneratedbytheoxyacetyleneheatsourceinthistestmethodrepresentonlyonesetofconditions;theydonotsimulateanyspecificapplication.Thus,thetestresultscannotbeusedtopredictdirectlythebehaviorofmaterialsforspecificenvironments,norcantheybeusedfordesignpurposes.However,overanumberofyears,thetesthasbeenusefulindeterminingtherelativemeritofmaterials,particularlyinweedingoutobviouslypoormaterialsfrommoreadvanceddata-generationprograms.Ithasalsobeenconsideredforuseasaproductionquality-controltestforrocketinsulationmaterials.Thetesteriscautionedtouseprudenceinextendingtheusefulnessofthetestmethodbeyonditsoriginalintent,namely,screening.Forsituationshavingenvironmentswidelydifferentfromthoseofthetest,theuserisurgedtomodifytheoxyacetyleneburnerconditionstosuithisrequirementsorperhapschangetoadifferentheat-generatingdevicethatprovidesbettersimulation.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthescreeningofablativematerialstodeterminetherelativethermalinsulationeffectivenesswhentestedasaflatpanelinanenvironmentofasteadyflowofhotgasprovidedbyanoxyacetyleneburner.1.2Thistestmethodshouldbeusedtomeasureanddescribethepropertiesofmaterials,products,orassembliesinresponsetoheatandflameundercontrolledlaboratoryconditionsandshouldnotbeusedtodescribeorappraisethefirehazardofmaterials,products,orassembliesunderactualfireconditions.However,resultsofthistestmethodmaybeusedaselementsofafireriskassessmentwhichtakesintoaccountallofthefactorswhicharepertinenttoanassessmentofthefirehazardofaparticularenduse.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.
